Article 23 (Salaries)
On 8/24/18, UFF-FAU presented a counter to the BOT’s latest offer (3 years – 1.25% merit, 0.25% if in top 8 in metrics rankings).

The UFF-FAU counter for FAU In-Unit faculty for a one year contract:

Increase to Base Merit (>=3) Increase
FY 18-19 2.00% 0.75%

The UFF-FAU counter for FAUS faculty for a one year contract:

Annual Faculty on the Performance Salary Schedule
Increase to Base One-time bonus for Rating >= Effective

The Grandfathered Salary Schedule (GSS) employee base minimum starting salary would be raised to $50,000 for University School Accomplished Instructor and $55,000 for University School Assistant Professor. Permanent employees on the GSS below the newly established minimum salary will be adjusted to the designated amount.

Dear Colleague –
On August 24th and August 31st, representatives of the BOT and UFF-FAU met to discuss:

Article 23 (Salaries)
On 8/24/18, UFF-FAU presented a counter to the BOT’s latest offer (3 years – 1.25% merit, 0.25% if in top 8 in metrics rankings).

The UFF-FAU counter for FAU In-Unit faculty for a one year contract:

Increase to Base Merit (>=3) Increase
FY 18-19 2.00% 0.75%

The UFF-FAU counter for FAUS faculty for a one year contract:

Annual Faculty on the Performance Salary Schedule
Increase to Base One-time bonus for Rating >= Effective
FY 18-19 2.00% 0.75%

Permanent Faculty on the Grandfathered Salary Schedule
Increase to Base One-time bonus for Rating >= Effective
FY 18-19 1.99% 0.74%

The Grandfathered Salary Schedule (GSS) employee base minimum starting salary would be raised to $50,000 for University School Accomplished Instructor and $55,000 for University School Assistant Professor. Permanent employees on the GSS below the newly established minimum salary will be adjusted to the designated amount.

After caucusing, the BOT countered with:
For FAU In-Unit faculty:

University Merit Increase Increase contingent on FAU metric ranking in top 8
FY 18-19 1.50% 0.25%
FY 19-20 1.50% 0.25%
FY 20-21 1.50% 0.25%

For FAUS faculty:

Merit Increase, Contingent upon FDOE Performance Metrics, for Annual Faculty on the Performance Salary Schedule
Overall Performance Rating 2018-2019 2019-2020 2020-2021
Highly Effective 1.50% 1.50% 1.50%
Effective 1.00% 1.00% 1.00%

Merit Increase, Contingent upon FDOE Performance Metrics, for Permanent Faculty on the Grandfathered Salary Schedule
Overall Performance Rating 2018-2019 2019-2020 2020-2021
Highly Effective 1.49% 1.49% 1.49%
Effective .99% .99% .99%

The Grandfathered Salary Schedule (GSS) employee base minimum starting salary would be raised to $44,000. Permanent employees on the GSS below the newly established minimum salary will be adjusted to $44,000.

The BOT has now tied merit increases in FAUS salaries to Florida Department of Education Performance Metrics instead of the State University System Performance Funding Metrics.

On 8/31/18, UFF-FAU countered with a three year contract, effective 28 days after ratification. FY 2018-19 salary increases are in the contract, while Article 23 salary increases for 2019 – 2020 and 2020-2021, including those based on merit or performance, will be determined through contract re-openers each year.
UFF-FAU’s position is that by renegotiating these numbers each year, they do not need to be tied directly to the metrics as the University will already know its metric score and the allocation of performance funding it will receive for this period.

FAU In-Unit faculty

Increase to Base Merit (>=3) Increase
FY 18-19 1.75% 0.50%

FAUS faculty

Annual Faculty on the Performance Salary Schedule
Increase to Base One-time bonus for Rating >= Effective
FY 18-19 1.75% 0.50%

Permanent Faculty on the Grandfathered Salary Schedule
Increase to Base One-time bonus for Rating >= Effective
FY 18-19 1.74% 0.49%

The Grandfathered Salary Schedule (GSS) employee base minimum starting salary would be raised to $47,000. Permanent employees on the GSS below the newly established minimum salary will be adjusted to $47,000.

Article 11 (Evaluation File)
After lengthy negotiations and suggestions from both sides, Article 11 was Tentatively Agreed on.
