April 28, 2010. BOG’s Chief Financial Officer reports that State University’s System 2010-11 Budget is 5.81% greater than previous year’s.

The Legislature has concluded the budget with some modifications to the SUS. Attached [links below] is what we have been able to piece together from the various budget conference meetings:

Operating Budget:

  • Attachment 1 is an updated executive summary (which includes the Board General Office). The yellow highlights represent changes from the April 20 summary. Overall, the bottom line increased by $21 million. Changes include:
    • $500,000 provided for NCF Academic/Administrative Infrastructure
    • Almost $6 M provided for FAMU Targeted Student Assistance Programs
    • $1 M for the UF Center for Lung Transplantation
    • $16 M for USF Polytechnic
    • Increased the base budget reduction by $5 M
    • $3 M for the FIU Center for Ethics & Professionalism
    • $.4 M for the UCF Lou Frey Institute of Politics & Government
    • Additional $90,000 for the UCF / IHMC Partnership (brings the total to $440,000)

PECO:

  • Attachment 2 is an updated PECO summary. Three additional projects totaling $41 M were added to the Senate proposed list. Overall, the PECO budget increased by $2.5 M:
    • $16.2 M – UCF Classroom Building
    • $7.2 M – UCF Engineering Building Renovation
    • $17.6 M – FIU Student Support Services Building
    • $37 M decrease to Repair/Maintenance/Remodeling funds.

BOG General Office: There was no change to the Board Office funding. In addition, the legislature has decided not to reduce employee salaries by 3%.
