Dear Colleague,
Please find attached the Contract Ratification Bulletin for the 2009-12 UFF-FAU/FAUBOT Collective Bargaining Agreement. Members of the UFF-FAU Bargaining Team, Sharmila Vishwasrao, Lydia Smiley, Fred Hoffman, Pamela Brannon, and Debra Vance Noelke have spent many hours negotiating with their FAU Board of Trustees counterparts to arrive at what I belive is a very satisfactory agreement that will largely define the parameters of our workplace environment. Our Grievance Committee Chair, Douglas Broadfield, also attended many of the bargaining meetings, particularly because the contract’s various facets often influence the grievance process. Bargaining is very challenging work, and these individuals have given their time generously to ensure that all of us have a contract with management that upholds and defends matters including, but not limited to, academic freedom, professional development, promotion and tenure, and adequate compensation.
To ensure that every member of the Bargaining Unit receives the opportunity to vote, you will also be receiving a copy of the Ratification Bulletin and envelopes to facilitate the voting process via campus mail during the week of October 4, 2010. You may vote for or against ratification in one of two ways: 1) at this time by printing out the pdf of the Ratification Bulletin or, 2) awaiting arrival of the paper Ratification Bulletin in campus mail. If you choose option ‘1’ please be sure to carefully follow the directions for marking and properly returning your ballot. Ballots that do not follow the prescribed protocol will not be counted. All ballots must be received by October 13, 2010.
Thank you for your anticipated participation and continued suppport.
Sincerely,
James Tracy
UFF-FAU President
