DESCRIPTION:Building towards our recruiting blitz week\, March 31-April 4\, UFF-FAU is sponsoring the screening of the documentary\, Union\, during the Solidarity Cinema Series. If you haven’t signed up for the blitz week yet\, please do so by emailing our membership and organizing co-chair at jake.henson4@gmail.com.  \nNominated for an Academy Award for feature length documentary\, Union follows the formation of the first Amazon union\, at a fulfillment center in Staten Island\, New York. For fear of alienating Amazon\, no commercial distributors have picked up the film to provide theatrical or online releases. But Solidarity Cinema Series will be offering a special screening of the film on March 20\, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Brett Story and former Amazon employee and organizer Zack Boff.  The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Christopher Robé. \nMarch 20\, 7 PM\, CU 109 (Living Room Theaters) \nSolidarity Cinema Series \nPartnership between United Faculty of Florida- FAU\, School of Communication and Multimedia Studies\, and the Center for Peace\, Justice and Human Rights

SUMMARY:Blitz Week: March 30-Apri 4 from 10 AM to 6 PM
DESCRIPTION:As a member-run\, worker-to-worker organized union\, your experience as a member of UFF-FAU is one of our strongest points of argument for new faculty and nonmembers to join our movement. We need 117 people to join to reach 60%. The only way we get this done is the way we get anything done: we do it together. \nOur core recruiters have continuously spoken with new faculty and nonmembers for many months\, discussing the union\, their need to join\, and the upcoming blitz. Many of these people are primed to join. Meeting you and hearing why you are a member while you discuss their concerns and interests will likely make the difference in seeing their way to joining. \nWe have set up two-hour shifts throughout the week – from Monday\, March 31st\, and ending on Friday\, April 4th\, with our last Happy Hour of the semester at The Irishmen from 4-6 pm. We will start our recruitment days at 10 am and end at 6 pm. Reach out to Jake Henson or Chris Robe’ to sign up for shifts.  \nYou will go out in pairs\, accompanied by more experienced recruiters. We will assign you locations where you are most comfortable recruiting. Your involvement in speaking to your colleagues about the union shows non-members that faculty are the union and that many of us are willing to engage to the point of outreaching to others about the importance of our union and joining. \nIt’s time to directly get involved.
