Some Data on Salaries

Some data on raises:

The total salary bill for bargaining unit employees (instructional faculty, librarians, University school employees) is now $55,764,998  and $90,834,459 for out of unit (administrators, staff)employees.

Pay for out of unit employees has grown by more than a million dollars while pay for instructional employees has increased by a mere $211,000.

In 2009-2010, out of unit employees received $553,595 in special increases.  In-unit employees received $187,478 in special increases.  As a percentage of their salary base, out of unit employees received almost twice as much in special increases when compared to instructional faculty.  This does not include increases for administrators who took on new jobs (such as the Associate provost or VP for Finance) or promotion increases for any employees.

The budget cuts since 2008 have impacted faculty salaries.  For instance in 2008, the university saved $1.14m by replacing  tenure earning faculty with instructors, adjuncts and graduate students in summer classes.  This amounted to a 10% pay cut for many faculty which has not been restored.
