March 29, 2010
Dear Colleague:
It is time for the annual faculty assessment of administrators conducted by the FAU Chapter of the United Faculty of Florida. Please find below links to electronic Administrator Assessment Forms for academic year 2009/2010.
Historical background: On February 1, 1974, the University Senate voted to have an instrument developed for evaluating administrators at this institution. That body took no further steps, so the UFF Chapter assumed the task and established what is now a tradition at FAU. This is the thirty-third consecutive annual assessment of FAU administrators by the faculty under UFF auspices. It provides you with an opportunity to size up the administrative skills and styles of our higher-ranking administrators, and to add your ratings to the collective faculty judgment of the quality of the FAU administration for the current academic year.
Questionnaire details: Below you will find links to each of the nine College/Units and their respective Deans. On the questionnaire you are asked to assess the main figures in the administrative hierarchy at both the upper and middle levels. When the results are published, faculty can see how their colleagues rate the dean of their college and can make cross-college comparisons for an overview of administrator performance rankings university-wide.
INSTRUCTIONS: Please click on the appropriate link for your college (SEE BELOW) to fill out the form now. It will take only a couple of minutes, but if you delay you may forget and miss the opportunity to participate in and contribute to this important annual exercise. The deadline for submission is Monday, April 12 so that results can be circulated before the end of the spring term.
Note: The results of last year’s survey were posted on the UFF-FAU website instead of being distributed in hard copy. This year we plan to distribute the results in hard copy, in addition to the website posting.
Sincerely,
Jim Tracy
