UFF-FAU is the Florida Atlantic University chapter of the United Faculty of Florida (UFF), which represents more than 18,000 faculty members and professional employees at Florida’s 11 public universities, 11 of the state colleges and community colleges, and three independent universities. (Other employees at FAU are represented by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and the Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA).)
UFF is one local within the Florida Education Association (FEA), which represents more than 250,000 educators in Florida, with membership in K-12 educational institutions as well as higher education.
The FEA, in turn, is affiliated with both of the major national educators’ unions: the 1.3 million-member American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the 3.2 million-member National Education Association (NEA).
The AFT is a member of the AFL-CIO, the 12.2 million-member federation of trade unions. Through this affiliation, UFF-FAU also participates in the AFL-CIO’s regional central body, the Palm Beach-Treasure Coast Central Labor Council.
