ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

President’ Brogan’s energy and positive outlook will help us through the current economic crisis. He is an outstanding speaker whose interpersonal skills are amazing. President Brogan finds a way to make everyone feel included and he cares about people.

I’m glad he gave up his 10% raise. That was a smart move toward supporting everyone. Let’s work towards getting everyone raises.

He certainly has tried to provide a consistent message regarding the budget problems. He does represent FAU’s interest + promotes it to the larger community quite effectively. I want to see his office function with more transparency in the future. I also believe he and his office need to do more to appreciate faculty + staff and what they bring to the university; we all are another important part of it, and not just another line in the operating expenses.

I think he’s been great for improving quality and reputation of FAU I think he sucks at faculty compensation.

He is the wort president, like G.W. Bush, top down, arrogant, no respect for faculty or students. Only cares about money and taking it from lame people like the rich Forkas’ who could really care less about FAU alumni. They only wanted their name on a building [sad face]. He lies, cheats, and is vengeful and vindictive. He cannot be trusted—he is a politician. Too much emphasis and money spent on sports. He should quit—he has never been a professor … The leaders for the most part at FAU are all poor or weak teachers or educators who could never make it as professors doing research or teaching. He lies and makes a bad name for FAU in the community and PB Post. He is not visible or present on any campus. He is fake and insincere. FAU should not fly its flag too high; it is low quality and standards. Put more money for research + faculty travel and salaries. Do more for the students at FAU—be more caring. [Administrators’] secretaries are mean + rude to students + faculty.

President Brogan is “good on his feet” With students & the public. But he does not have the academic community high on his priority list. His bloated administration and high salaries does not speak well for his value system. Sadly, he seems more “out for Frank’s well-being” than the primary mission of the university—academics. [frown face]

Horrible stance on faculty pay—no excuse here. It is time for a no-confidence vote for the President. It is getting near time to go! His political benefit—if he brought some in—is now gone—and his vision is limited to lots of talk—little action on actually helping FAU become a higher quality univ[ersity]. The efforts at self-promotion (recent posters, etc.) are in poor taste. Better to feature students + faculty.

Respect faculty.

He is more interested in business ventures than in the primary function of the university—teaching and research. He has shown himself as lacking ethics when [he] gave his administrative staff large raises while faculty have been asked to do more with less.

Brogan is not qualified to hold his position—he doesn’t have the proper training/background.

The university will benefit immensely if he resigns since he is a politician who has the least appreciation and concern for faculty.

Poor handling of the budget crisis. Need to lead by personal example. Very little sensitivity to the needs of the FAU local community. It translates into unsatisfactory fund raising performance.

I cannot believe that the administration (headed by the president) would go against the recommendation of a special magistrate! Our salaries are an embarrassment.

No idea for developing the university/college during several years of economic crisis.

One of the most distant and ineffectual university presidents ever encountered.

Why have a politician if he can’t do things political, like get us to charge the same tuition as FIU and UCF?

It is embarrassing to work at the pay rate we work for. Enough said.

Thinks faculty pick on him for petty reasons. But try these: does not understand or participate in, and has not contemplated for one instant, the life of the mind. Does not fathom the respect accorded to it around the world, through the ages, or as practiced in the traditions of academic governance. Is clueless about why an American university education is esteemed. Surrounds himself with a white coterie of efficiency experts and sycophants and fancies that suffices. Ignores, even to trumpet as diversity, the international character of this faculty (Not “Democrats”!) Does not try to substitute for his lack of the signal qualification for his office some intellectual effort or depth of inquiry. Does not understand (or appear to care) what faculty do, or why, and like many of our undergraduates has devoted himself to signifying and consuming. Needs to read a book now and then. Lacks curiosity or depth. At minimum, should be just stop talking.

Approve pay increase.

By now it is obvious that this guy, with no credentials, does not belong in an academic setting. His concern is his image, and it is obvious that if he could get a job, he would leave in an instant. Unfortunately, those at the state level … were glad to be rid of him. We are stuck, which is scary. Strong bet is that he cannot even spell the name of most of the disciplines in the university—It is not an overstatement to say that he is an embarrassing idiot while even his own hand-picked bureaucrats are aware of—the state ignores him, and it is a shame that we cannot do the same. We are in very bad shape when it comes to the administration of the university. How much worse can it get? No doubt he—the President—is not a defender of the university. He would sell it out in a minute. He is not the advocate we need.

He has a tendency to make declarations & statements that just don’t seem to fit the university.

The president of the university is a public face of FAU. In that role, President Brogan has operated aptly. However, as the leader who sets the tone for the university, his behavior has fallen short. Similar to the provost, the president needed to respond to the arts and letter faculty when manju begain his dismantling of so many programs. The president needs to be aware of manju’s anti-Semitism and misogyny. After all, over half of FAU students are women and we do reside in Boca Raton! President Brogan should be aware of the low morale in arts and letters since manju’s arrival. The issue is not one of a reduced budget, but the process and lack of respect displayed by manju. Faculty are willing to make necessary adjustments in these trying times. Nevertheless, manju[‘s] approach, unlike that of other deans is deplorable, embarrassing, and prejudicial.

He has broken faith with the faculty and he evidently has complete disdain for academic achievement and scholarship. Faculty are treated like interchangeable and replaceable parts. Administrative positions and salaries continue to soar while faculty[‘s] flatline, and the new bureaucrats “earn” their inflated salaries by creating new demands on faculty. It has got to stop before all self-respecting faculty leave for institutions more dedicated to academic excellence (and to supporting those who help to produce it).

I do not feel strong leadership has been modeled in light of faculty/staff salaries.

Should promote an environment of excellence in research and teaching instead of focusing only on getting the cheapest credit hours.

No leadership during budget crises. Total lack of communication re plans for budget.

Make academic standards a priority.

The morale and position of faculty is like cattle in a stockyard! The Board is the butcher.

Support faculty; keep the academic programs ini tack; take a pay cut. Freeze all hiring + support academic programs. Fire Pendakur!

Accepting a 10% raise at a time when there is a budget crisis reveals that the president does not value or care about the condition of the university. His rejection of the UFF proposal for faculty raises + the mediator’s compromise plan also points to how the president repeatedly breaks the trust of the faculty in fair bargaining.

He has clearly demonstrated a lack of respect towards faculty, and he clearly does not care a whit for academic achievement. Frank Brogan is interested in furthering the career of Frank Brogan.

President Brogan is no longer an effective leader. He listens to the Board only, fails to consult with faculty, rarely engages with the academic community, and has breached the trust with the faculty by refusing to support a raise for us. I am very disappointed in our president. He needs to cut FTE production so the faculty aren’t overburdened & teaching when we need to focus on research.

He is a politician not an academic!! He does not respect faculty and does not realize that students are the lifeblood of a university. He sends mixed messages re. teaching and research.

Should be replaced.

It should be: optimize for students, then faculty then administrators. Brogan’s order is: optimize for administrators, maybe then students. Faculty are not even in his consideration.

The university is in bad shape—not b/c of the budget but because of lack of leadership. No money would be okay if there was academic integrity. All he can do is go “rah” abt. the football team. That is what we get when we don’t have a scholar for a leader—someone who turns to a trite message like football to rally the community. Imagine if he quoted Emerson.

The other universities in the SUL are all compensating their faculty at a higher rate than ours. While football may get our “brand” (as though we are a commodity?) out there, it does not educate our greatest asset, the students.

As president, need a professional university professor, Ph.D., to run FAU, not a high school principal. His personnel decisions reflect serious mismanagement of FAU faculty. Not impressed of his political credentials nor his management skills.

No qualified to be an adjunct. Politics has killed FAU. Brogan = FAU’s demise. He is the captain that sank the boat.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

He is an outstanding provost. His administrative style reminds me of Harry Truman’s—fair, no nonsense, do your homework, and be respectful of others. Think of how this university has changed after Pritchett came—many improvements due to him (e.g. Office of Sponsored Research). He is an educator and academician—he really understands the needs of faculty—he has been a tenure track faculty and when we talk to him about a problem he get it. Best provost I have ever served under.

I think John is a very good administrator, an effective listener, very experienced, and all over good guy.

Better than last year. It was good that he came to talk to colleges about budget cuts.

He is outstanding!

Extremely approachable.

I believe Provost Pritchett is a good hands-on administrator who has the best interests of the colleges and university at heart.

Good man except he needs better control of his deans.

Intelligent administrator. Needs more dialogue with faculty.

Having individual meetings with faculty to report a tenure decision is a good strategy towards transparency—work on ensuring that notification of decision is also clear.

As chief academic officer, his loyalties should be w/the faculty + he should be their champion (even though they can be incredibly annoying and ungrateful!! That’s the nature of faculty!)

This guy is a stereotypical cracker with an ego the size of Jupiter. He is not knowledgeable about academia, short-fused and plays in intimidation. He has no idea that he is responsible for the academic (research and teaching) side of the university. He is simply a bad, and dangerous, bureaucrat.

I have seen this person’s name in the paper on a few occasions, but, again, don’t really know what this person does … It seems these administrative positions are superfluous.

Having limited contact with the provost , my remarks are directed toward his lack of leadership in dealing with the abuse of power by the dean of arts and letters. While Manju was firing two associate deans, three directors, two department chairs, the long time executive secretary, and a variety of other staff, the provost, to my knowledge, never interceded. While manju lied to faculty, created an academically intolerant environment, and a fear of retaliation toward anyone who might disagree with him, the provost remained silent. Arts and letters is the foundation of liberal arts university and the provost is the chief academic officer. We need Provost Pritchett to sop the erosion of academic independence and free flow is discourse that currently exists in the college of arts and letters.

Instead of asking us to volunteer to teach more he should give up some of his salary to hire more teachers.

Abysmal leadership during budget crisis.

He promotes fellow administrators to the detriment of the heart of the university: the faculty. Shame on him.

He is dictatorial, does not tolerate debate. Attacks or fires those who disagree with him.

FAU-HBOI was/is handled poorly.

Should be replaced.

Academic standard are in the toilet. He should be ashamed. Faculty moral[e] is at an all time low. Where is our academic officer?

Hold deans accountable for outcomes—academic and scholarly.

No oversight over deans. Why do we not hire a Provost with taent, not a retiree who brings his buddies with him. He seems to lack an understanding of FAU, missions + importance of community. Urban univ[ersities] are different + I don’t think he gets that.

Dr. Rossen is trying to transpose all from Nebraska to FAU, not thinking out our current systems. A brain drain is occurring at FAU. Little money for travel and low salaries and Pritchett does nothing about keeping us faculty happy. Too low standards. No quality. No respect for faculty and their education and expertise. Staff and secretaries are rude, sarcastic, incompetent and not [indecipherable] to FAU students or faculty. Must require + oversee that all COE and univ[ersity] adm[inisration] are evaluated by faculty each year. No excuses. [If] faculty have to be evaluated then so should admin[instrators].

His 360 [degree] evaluation process has not been helpful because the faults of employees should not be announced in open forums. This creates a culture where humiliation is public and an acceptable process. He has been supportive at other events.

The Provost lost his temper in a [Faculty] Senate meeting which was very disturbing. [Frown face] Faculty feel intimidated and that is not desirable in a truly top notch university. He did not accept a raise, bonus, or salary adjustment like some other administrators—admirable [happy face]

The recent directive to COE faculty to revisit/revise tenure/promotion criteria is misguided. If a legitimate reason exists for this directive it should be made public. The Provost should make his priorities clear and do more to actually help the faculty—for example in terms of salary.

Not grant promotion to his friends turned down by dept., col., univ. P + T committees.

He is biased and prejudiced. He has made poor decisions and would [rather let] the ship sink than acknowledge that fear.

We thought we were hiring a leader with a vision + courage; instead we have a bureaucrat who is for centralization + standardization.

He is patronizing, inflexible, and not at all transparent.

He does not seem to deliberate, only delegate.

Resign immediately, since he is a totalitarian in running the university affairs and he is least concerned about the quality of the academic programs except he promotes the interests of his group of select people during the budget crisis.

Poor handling of the budget cuts. It’s amazing that despite FAU’s many top notch faculty we are so hopelessly stuck deep in the fourth quadrant. Poor academic leadership (especially troublesome is his oversight of the Division of Research).

No idea for developing the college/university during several years’ [of] economic problems.

UFF/FAU ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OF ADMINISTRATORS, 2008/2009

COMMENTS ON DEAN JEFFREY BULLER (HONORS COLLEGE)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Dean would . . .”:

succeed in his efforts to find another position elsewhere.

continue to make himself available to the faculty throughout the year instead of becoming less visible as time progresses.

care more about FAU and the Honors College.

learn to communicate better with faculty, especially on decision making processes. Often info comes very late after decision already made. Not much during decision process.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

This year, the dean was going to have a once a month session to meet w/faculty for input/discussion/open forum. It only happened once. He also pledged to do more “rounds”—informal walkthroughs to communicate more w/faculty. As far as I know, he never has, unless times in hallway looking like he was on his way somewhere else was his “rounds.” A “How’s it going?” Isn’t sufficient, as most people answer, “Fine,” regardless of whether they actually are or not. Please, Jeff, sit down and talk with people.

The Honors College is sinking on Buller’s watch.

COMMENTS ON DEAN VALERIE BRISTOR (EDUCATION)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Dean would . . .”:

focus more attention on encouraging professors to bring in grant money.

step down. Be more open, impartial. Stop secret-hiring of friends on tenure track without faculty P + T input.

be a scholar. Understand research. Be an appropriate + professional rep. for our college.

question the Provost’s decisions.

have been selected from a stronger pool.

be more visionary.

have brought in someone new.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Dr. Bristor is a kind and caring manager. When will the College of Education be able to hire a national scholar/leader as our dean?

The selection process seems to have been rushed. A limited pool was not sufficient to make a fair selection in the recent dean selection.

She is a fine person with excellent leadership skills. Dr. Bristor is supportive, respectful, and honest. She has created a caring and scholarly atmosphere/culture in the College of Education.

She has shown herself as a weak administrator in times of crisis.

Think outside the box more. Cares + is present. Be more creative and open-minded. Equity in assignment[s] needs to be addressed. Plays favorites. Guided by God. Needs to require that ALL COE admin be evaluated each year by faculty. No excuses. Friendly + kind. Top down authority follows her chiefs. Not flexible. We need more travel money + grad assist. for faculty. Dr. Watlington, Assoc Dean—is not present or visible—very weak, never has been a professor before. It is a sin that Admin like McPherson or Eliah Watlington make $120K a year but are never present or visible at the northern campuses. They have never held assist. or prof. positions or tenure and have no clue what it is like to be a professor. in a univ[ersity] or COE. $120K for someone who is never here is a sin!

COMMENTS ON DEAN ROSALYN CARTER (CAUPA)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Dean would . . .”:

give her a raise! She is wonderful.

leave or retire.

listen to department decisions.

obtain resources to support scholarly work of junior faculty.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

She is an excellent dean.

She is incompetent + full of innuendos that are false and based on her personal biases. Dean is out of control + has no checks from above. At other universities I never experienced such personal attacks + innuendos. She is way over her capability. Shame the Provost for not checking it. This College should be closed + sent to existing colleges.

COMMENTS ON DIRECTOR WILLIAM MILLER (LIBRARY)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Director would . . .”:

focus on other library issues not related to cultural events.

balance his focus + priorities on the “library” side of the libraries and not so much on the music collections.

support the needs of the students: Promotion of the general collection; and instruction: More space for student use; programs that benefit the intellectual lives of the students + are relevant to their demographic.

get a full time fundraiser who would bring money (not collections) into the library. The library needs a science library, and this should be the #1 priority for the fund (not collections) raiser.

Get rid of his director who speaks abusively to employees.

survey staff re: specific morale issues. i.e. satisfaction, creativity, etc.

rely less on his cover of assistant deans.

communicate better, especially with regard to the value +/or reasons for the existence of some specialized programs and activities that do not directly relate to the core mission of the library in times of budgetary constraints.

1) Encouraged transparency, 2) Had better leadership skills, 3) Promoted collaboration and collegiality, 4) Ended favoritism.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Dr. Miller is an innovative library dean who has visions of what the 21st century library can and should be. In some respects he is putting these ideas into action. The down side is he does not communicate this well with his fac[ulty] + staff. He needs to have meetings with all fac[ulty] + staff 2 or 3 times a year. Dr. miller has the best interest of the library and its staff in mind. He absolutely needs to get out of his office more often so people can get to know him.

He has shown some improvement on getting faculty input since last year. He is supportive of travel + professional development. However, I find that personnel decisions are often rushed and reactive instead of focusing on finding a good match for a position. The libraries does have a professional environment .. but the emphasis and time is very heavy and production-focused. Communication is very regimented and often inhibits cross-departmental discussions or interactions. Director Miller seems to have improved on listening to faculty + staff input; good start, so keep developing that.

Best positions handed out in secret before anyone knows they are open. Most workers never allowed to use t[heir] full potential.

COMMENTS ON DEAN DENNIS COATES (BUSINESS)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Dean would . . .”:

he is too corrupt and vindictive.

reduce administrative staff.

it is just amazing how this university has changed in 7 years for the worse.

quit being so biased toward his friends and be more even-handed.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Coates is great!

Unless you are a “friend of the dean” expect nothing.

I’ve appreciated the Dean’s candor re: budget challenges though I don’t agree with his choices—he has been pretty straight-forward with us faculty.

He needs to put in a full day at work and get out in the community more.

COMMENTS ON DEAN MANJUNATH PENDAKUR (ARTS AND LETTERS)

(NOTE: One comment in reference to Dean Pendakur’s physical features was not included.)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

be removed as soon as possible. He is an incompetent micromanager.

refrain from personalizing academic discussion + consultation (refrain from naming people), be more respectful of college faculty (directors and chairs are replaced in an unprofessional way), and stop being so political.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

The worst administration I’ve worked with.

Seems good so far. Cares about supporting faculty research.

I think he is doing an OK job in a complicated economic atmosphere.

Get rid of one of the Associate Deans. They are ineffective and expensive.

Manju has been a grave disappointment since his arrival. He fooled the faculty with his charm and irreverence only to evolve into a tyrant. He has lied too many times, berated the college graduate students as well as the faculty, and has made both anti-Semitic and misogynist comments. While he may continue to garner favor with the administration, his behavior and demeanor toward faculty is both disrespectful and retaliatory. The search committee should have paid more attention to the lengthy petition describing [M]anju’s administration at his previous university. His presence at FAU is an embarrassment to our university.

Dean Pendakur has done a good job in his 1st year, in the position especially considering the current budget crisis.

College morale has never been lower. He is authoritarian + aims for disunity.

Better than the previous interim dean.

In his short tenure, Dean Pendakur has managed to achieve a reputation for being sexist, anti-Semitic + authoritarian. He has poor communication skills + often makes rash decisions based on incomplete information.

He is not an advocate of the College; Disparages faculty; Micromanages; Tramples on faculty prerogatives; Interferes with programs + curriculum; Behaves unprofessional by talking about faculty behind their backs; Throws tantrums when he doesn’t get his way and retaliates unfairly. He is a poor dean and should be fired!

Impressive leadership in a difficult time.

The Dean’s intervention and reversal of faculty decisions regarding job hires, graduate student theses, as well as his sudden dissolution of the Women’s Studies Department are very troubling. The faculty are starting to see him as an unpredictable overlord rather than a partner in the development of academic programs + departmental decisions.

This was a bad hire… He is … very concerned about his own image. He has quickly demoralized the faculty and turned the College into a venue of pettiness.

COMMENTS ON DEAN GARY PERRY (SCIENCE)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Dean would . . .”:

the dean would push for establishing a research campus in Jupiter

be fired.

continue the great work.

put College interests above his personal interests.

keep doing great job!

not leave the University.

visit the faculty 2X semester, during these times when there is greater flux and rumors.

doing his best under the circumstances.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

We like our Dean!!! Hopefully, he stays for a long time! GARRY PERRY for President.

Dr. Perry has a politician’s approach to the administration of the College. We would be better served by a scientist.

He is a third rate scholar, kicked upstairs by nat [sic] dean. He is manipulated by the provost. He plays favorites.

COMMENTS ON DIRECTOR PATRICIA HODGE, PRINCIPAL, HENDERSON

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Principal would . . .”:

be more timely in responses to faculty and discuss decisions before making them. Be more open-minded.

improve communication.

too many things to mention here.

communicate with faculty, staff and parents in a timely manner regarding decisions with

COMMENTS ON DIRECTOR GLENN THOMAS, ASSISTANT DEAN

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Director would . . .”:

Be around the school more.

Communicate with and maintain some visibility at the school.

Always makes himself available to both students and teachers.

COMMENTS ON DEAN MICHAEL FRIEDLAND (BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Dean would . . .”:

Get rid of non-productive faculty. Make more decisions without committee input.

Retire.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

The most polarizing administration ever encountered.

No idea for developing the college during several years’ economic problems.

COMMENTS ON DEAN ANNE BOYKIN (NURSING)

Responses completing the statement beginning with

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Dean would . . .”:

honor her word + respect all faculty + not just those who do her dirty work.

continue

make sure communication between the Associate Dean for Academics + senior faculty is improved—there is dissatisfaction which is causing problems with retention.

she is the best dean I have ever worked with!

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Interesting that during a budget crisis the Dean’s suite gets all new furniture in a building that just opened 2-years ago. A suite + new furniture, a private bathroom + I can’t use the seminar room for my class! Where are the priorities?

Her door is always open. She is a valued leader and colleague.

“Question # 9: The university would be better served if the Dean would . . .”:

step down, and clean up his staff.

defend the College and stand up against attempts to dismantle it.

be replaced immediately.

resign/retire early.

resign immediately.

be fired.

“retire.

resign.

resign immediately.

obtain faculty approval on policy and organizational changes.

be replaced.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

His handling of the budget crisis shows great incompetence and mental laziness. His politics cannot be trusted. He allows the financial persons to have ‘way too much’ power!!

The ‘reorganization’ of the College that has been taking place during Spring ’09 has had no faculty input and in fact Stevens seems hostile towards any questions or dissent regarding the matter.

Resign forthwith since he does not listen to, appreciate the dedication and contribution of the faculty, neither care for the faculty input and interest of the faculty- complete mismanagement of the college resources- he only promotes his self interest and his fortunes.

Disaster handling of the budget cuts: College reorganization & layoff of many tenured faculty is very ill-conceived. Instead of defending the College from the administration, he chose to become Faculty Enemy #1.

This dean’s ‘tenure’ has had lasting disastrous consequences on the College.

COMMENTS ON VICE PRESIDENT GERRI MCPHERSON

(TREASURE COAST CAMPUS)

Responses completing the sentence beginning with

“Question # 8: The university would be better served if the Vice President would . . .”:

be cloned and take all leadership positions.

haven’t met her yet!

have presence

be fired

resign.

be resident on this campus + get to know who works here.

make some effort to get to know people on this campus

make some effort to talk with faculty.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Hires good people—instills a healthy, positive culture. Is a champion for FAU without the blather of other administrators.

Have no contact with this person.

Who? No idea who she is. She is never on campus (Jupiter) has no perceived interest in the faculty or running of the campus. A complete nonentity, a complete waste of our resources. Get rid of her & replace with someone who has even a slight interest.

The university should eliminate this position. This is not a criticism of the current person holding the position. The problem is that the position is redundant on this campus.

This vice president just took office. I have not had enough time to form an opinion.

I do not know what this person does—what function does this person serve?

I never see her. Does she do anything?

I’ve never met her, which is pretty appalling seeing how I am on campus at least 40 hrs. a week, M-F. I couldn’t pick her out of a line-up, let alone know if she is advocating for our campus.

McPherson + Eliah Watlington (Assoc Dean COE) are not present or visible. She never introduced herself to the Colleges in Jupiter. She has no idea what it is like to be a professor since she has never been one. Her and Dr. Watlington should step down and be professors for a few years first—they are poor leaders. Not visible. Jupiter grounds have deteriorated since Murtaugh left. Rundown campus. Northern campus[‘] staff/secretaries are rude and mean to students and faculty. Little support given to faculty. No grad asst. up north. A waste of money. Never around.

She has been completely absent since her appointment. The campus is at a standstill as paperwork accumulates on her desk. The most troubling idea is that she was appointed because (and not despite) her incompetence.

COMMENTS ON VICE PRESIDENT JOYANNE STEPHENS

(BROWARD CAMPUSES)

Responses completing the sentence beginning with

“Question # 8: The university would be better served if the Vice President would . . .”:

step down, be more impartial

just great

continue.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Respect faculty.

Highly commendable.

For the 5 years I have been on the Davie campus, I have had no interaction with our VP. I am not sure why there is so little interaction. I don’t believe she knows anything about our needs or issues because of this disconnect.

Joyanne works hard—she’s positive, helpful + friendly

I have no idea who this person is—if that tells you anything.

Not much of a presence.
